Art School Graduation Sugar Cookies with Royal Icing

The request was artist palettes for an art school graduate.

These were really fun to decorate.

I'm sure you know what my only regret is......the cutter.  I used an oval.  It's not a huge deal but I sure wish the cookie shape matched the design better.

The wood grain is simply painted on with food coloring.

Cute tag, huh?  I've teamed up with my cousin, Meghann.  She's an amazing graphic designer.  My customers go to her to have her design tags to match the cookies.  She also designs invitations, thank you cards, etc.  Check out her awesome work!  Blank Canvas Creative

I made these cookies for my Dad's doctor.  Just a little thank you gift to show our appreciation.

They were really fast to decorate.  All wet-on-wet.  The hearts have EKG lines.  I think.  I just hope they reflect a healthy heart!  Prescription pad pages.  Easy!

After receiving cookies, the doctor is obligated to keep my Dad's heart in perfect working order.  Right?

Wedding Sugar Cookies

My sister got married last weekend and of course I made cookies for the reception. She chose the shapes and the colors and asked for about 110 cookies. Pretty much free reign. Love that.

My Dad and niece helped. My Dad flooded every single heart and quite a few of the large flowers. My niece did some flooding and piped all of the small flowers. They were a HUGE help!

Here's my Dad flooding away. He did an amazing job! I knew he would.

And here are the cookies.....

My niece also made 200 cupcakes! And they were amazing! Lots of different cake flavors, fillings and icing flavors. Very impressive. I wish I had a photo of them.

Corporate Logo Sugar Cookies

This was a fun, yet somewhat intimidating cookie order.

A gentleman contacted me asking for cookies for a business meeting. He wanted his company's logo and high speed train designs. He provided a photo of a high speed train and asked for the design to be somewhat realistic, not childish. Eep. The photo of this particular train was going to be used in his presentation, so he wanted the cookies to resemble it. Eep.

Here's what I came up with.....

The logo cookies were a breeze thanks to my KK.

The train cookies turned out pretty well.  I was pleased.

I just hoped he would be.  The pressure is on.  Can cookies make or break a multi-million dollar account?

Ok, I don't know that it was a multi-million dollar account in the balance, and I'm sure that cookies couldn't make or break it, but I really wanted the cookies to wow his clients.  It could give him an edge, right?

I don't know the results of the meeting, but I did get a lovely email from the gentleman that ordered them.  This is what he had to say....

"Just want to let you know the cookies were a 'sweet' addition to my team's presentation yesterday. Not only were my team members excited, the clients loved them. The cookies were a HUGE success. Thank you for being so creative and easy to work with."

I think that means it went well.  :)

Ice Cream Cone Sugar Cookies with Royal Icing

A simple, yet fun cookie design - ice cream cones!

These were made on a whim.  A few days ago, I had my first health department inspection.  *gulp*

The inspector needed to watch me in action at the bakery.  *gulp*

I didn't have an order due just then, but needed to make cookies.  On my way out of the door to the inspection, I grabbed an ice cream cutter. I planned to leave these cookies at the bakery to be sold.

One hour later, I passed!  With flying colors, I might add.  There was just one strike against me.  Apparently I'm supposed to keep all receipts for egg purchases from the last 90 days - at the bakery.  Who knew?  Not me.  Somehow I missed that little tidbit.  In case there's ever an egg recall, my receipts are supposed to be there so that the eggs can be tracked.  I had 30 days to correct this infraction.  It took me one day.  My receipts are there.  Done!  Shew! Yay!

Cookies in a Jar - make a great gift!

Cookies in a Jar!  Don't you think these would make a great gift to send to someone?  Sugar cookies decorated with royal icing tucked into a cute jar!

A few months ago, I was offered a wholesale arrangement with a website.  They wanted me to sell cookies.  I don't ship.  I'm afraid of shipping.

I decided to try to come up with a safe method.  I wanted them to have a cute presentation so that they would be perfect for gift giving.  And unique!  I wanted something completely different than what I've seen for shipped cookies.

Enter the mason or canning jar.  Simple round cookies to decrease the possibility of breakage.

The three collections shown are:

Fruit and Flowers with strawberries, cherries and daisies.
Party with cupcakes, presents, bunting and hearts.
Get Well Soon with pills and a prescription label.

I shipped a few jars off to some willing testers.  No breakage and they loved them!

But in the end, I decided to decline the offer.  After adding in the share that the website would get, these jars would be crazy expensive.

So I decided to offer the jars on my own website.  No need to mark them up.

There are 14 cookies in each jar.

They're individually bagged and heat-sealed.

I'd say that they're pretty darn cute!  Hop on over to my website to see more collections and order your own Cookies in a Jar to send to someone you love!

Decorated sugar cookies to welcome a baby boy or "Little Man"!

I love how these turned out.  They're definitely one of my favorite baby sets.

I made a platter to be enjoyed at the shower as well as bagged favors.

The ties on the onesies and plaque are royal icing transfers.

The patterns on the ties and onesies were done wet-on-wet.

Polka dots and plaid.  So cute!

I arrived the day before the party for delivery.  It was clear that this was going to be a Pinterest-worthy shower!  The hostess did an amazing job with the decorations.  The cookies happened to match everything perfectly!

Here's just one photo from the party.  See?  Perfect match!

I'm hooked. I admit it. I love Candy Crush. When I saw SweetAmbs' tutorial, I knew that I would have to make them sometime.

I really dislike hand-cutting dough, so I went with squares.

I used my KopyKake to pipe the candies.

The dots on the chocolate candy are piped, not sprinkles.

The highlights are wet-on-wet.

Are those possible moves bothering anyone else?

There.  Better.

That next move is now bothering me.  Just like with the game....I must stop now.

These were made for a wedding. 300 of them! The theme was "Burlap and Lace" with him being from Texas and her from Maryland.

The hearts were royal icing transfers and represent their hometowns.

I piped their names on just four of the cookies.  These were to be given to the bride and groom.

The rest were packaged up into gift boxes for the guests.

These cookies were made for a baby shower.  The theme was "Starting a New Chapter".

The book design and "Thanks" were taken from tags that were created for the shower.  The books were royal icing transfers.  I used my Kopykake for the text.

They were bagged and put into jars for shipping.

Later, they were popped into the favor bags.  Not a bad match!

These were made for physical therapists that work with children.

Feet and hands in bright, primary colors.

I was not at all pleased with the shape of the hand cutter.  I tried to modify it a bit with the icing.  I think that they're much better than if I had followed the shape of the cookie!

A friend of mine bought a cutter for me - a mug sitter cutter.

The large flower has a notch cut into it so that the cookie can rest on the rim of a cup.  Of course you could create your own notch with a small rectangular cutter into any shape cookie that you'd like.

I thought that this presentation would make a sweet gift......A mug filled with minis.......

I made these ages ago but never posted them.

Marbling royal icing is so much fun.  The possibilities are endless.

The designs are achieved by adding royal icing lines (in this case yellow and black) on top of a wet icing base (white), then dragging a toothpick through it.
